Learn more about what we do

How we live a faithful life, seeking to imitate Christ
Proverbs 31:8-9 Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.

The mission of the Church is to be God’s love in all places as part of the Upper New York Annual Conference of the the UMC. At Ionia UMC, let's add that as a small country church with a big heart for Jesus, God’s love is honored, served, and shared by the power of the Holy Spirit.

One of the ways to embrace life as a spiritual matter in faith through Christ, is to see and hear the needs of those whose voices are hardly ever heard; the unhoused, the hungry, the weary, the lonely, and the victims of circumstances beyond anyone’s prescription for life.

Isaiah 1:17 Learn to do right; seek justice

To be God’s love in all places means to be God’s love where we are and where God points us to God’s purpose. At Ionia UMC, there is a blessing from a generous congregation that believes in the mission of the gospel.  Because of a flow of donations to the mission fund it is possible to partner with not for profit organizations and faith-based purposes by supporting their efforts with funding. When there is something our volunteers can do to be present and help, then you will find Ionia UMC volunteers  there in body and soul.

Micah 6:8 He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.
